Hot Tub Electrical Installation in Wisconsin

A hot tub is one of the few places where people sit in water next to 240 volts, so the wiring has to be exactly right. Our hot tub electrical installation in Wisconsin includes the dedicated GFCI-protected circuit, the outdoor disconnect, bonding and the final hookup to the spa pack.

Hot Tub Electrical Installation across Wisconsin

Most full-size tubs need a 240 volt, 50 or 60 amp dedicated circuit with GFCI protection and an emergency disconnect that is within sight of the tub but at least five feet from the water. Metal parts around the tub are bonded together so no voltage difference can exist between them. Outdoors, the wiring runs in conduit, buried at the correct depth or routed along the house. The work is permitted and inspected, which also keeps your spa warranty and home insurance in good standing.

Bought a spa and need it wired before the delivery date? We do hot tub electrical installation in Wisconsin on a schedule that matches your dealer's, and we will tell you ahead of time whether your panel has room for the new circuit.

Hot Tub Electrical Installation FAQ

How much does hot tub wiring cost in Wisconsin?

Distance from the panel to the tub is the biggest factor, followed by whether trenching is needed and whether the panel has capacity. We quote a fixed price from photos or a short visit.

Can I plug a hot tub into a regular outlet?

Only 120 volt plug-and-play models, and they still need a dedicated GFCI-protected circuit. Larger tubs must be hardwired at 240 volts.

How far does the disconnect have to be from the tub?

At least five feet from the water's edge and within sight of the tub, so it can be shut off quickly but not touched from inside.

Do I need a permit for a hot tub in Wisconsin?

The electrical work requires a permit and inspection. We take care of both.
